Etihad Airways - no recession here!

In July 2009 Etihad Airways had its busiest month in its history. Over 616,000 passengers flew with Etihad that month. Its a nine per cent increase compared with July 2008.

July 31, Etihad had a record number of 21,640 passengers and a load factor of 90.3%. On one day only! 

As well in July Etihad flights increased by 20% compared with last year with 900 take off and landings. The average load factor was 88% across first, business and economy class.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways chief executive, said: "The record breaking passenger numbers we have experienced in July demonstrate that, despite the current economic challenges, Etihad continues to attract high volumes of traffic across all three cabins on our global network of more than 50 destinations".

Etihad's flights to North America, Asia and Pacific recorded seat factors of more than 86 per cent. Within Europe  it was 82% and in the Middle East 77%.

In September Etihad Airways will launch non-stop flights from Abu Dhabi to Chicago and Cape Town.
