The Australian and Victorian tourism industries will today be given a double-decker boost as Singapore Airlines - the largest international carrier into Australia - begins daily services of its A380 superjumbo aircraft to Melbourne.

The services to Melbourne give Australia the unique status of being the only country in the world to host the Airline's A380 in two cities. Sydney was the world's first A380 destination in October 2007 and less than two years later the Singapore Airlines A380 has carried nearly 2 million customers on more than 4,000 flights - making it one of the most popular aircraft to date.

Singapore Airlines currently operates 21 weekly flights between Singapore and Melbourne, including the new daily A380 service. The A380's addition to the route will provide a superlative travel option for Victorians looking for premium travel options to Singapore Airlines' network of more than 90 international ports.
